Open education has been my field of research since 2006. I am passionate about all the opportunities that a systemic approach to open education can bring to the fore for education modernisation at all levels. In the OpenEdu framework, we discuss the 10 dimensions of open education. Any higher education institution or school that carefully applies one or more of these open principles into their institutional practices and policies will be making progress towards becoming a more open, inclusive, digitally competent and avant garde institution. An example of this can be found in the 2020-2025 strategic plan of the Dixie University in the United States, which used the OpenEdu Framework to develop their new and open strategic plan supporting the University’s mission.
